[08:29:56] <janrinok> After 48 hrs of continuous rain we finally have some sunshine! I hope it lasts more than a few hours.
[08:46:03] <Ingar> 48 hrs of continues rain.... pfff amateur! :-p
[08:47:02] <Ingar> at the moment, I can hardly remember what sunshine looks like
[08:49:48] <janrinok> In a few weeks time the water companies will be forecasting a drought and telling us to limit the amount of water that we use!
[09:32:42] <c0lo> https://www.youtube.com
[09:39:56] <Ingar> janrinok: after the monsoons, there's the drought. Such is the order of things.
[10:08:13] <janrinok> ... it certainly often seems that way

[12:07:29] <Ingar> Until you have to debug an issue with medical files about "men with problems"
[12:12:35] <chromas> We have the technology to make fancier dummies with crackable ribcages
[12:16:37] <chromas> Apparently the Beegees is recommended for timing the compressions
[12:16:46] <chromas> "it is also recommended not to sing the song out loud. True story, our instructor said it twice, apparently one of his students brought his disco mojo down on someone who was drowning and their close ones were not happy."

[12:39:54] <systemd> ^ 03Find a familiar song with the right beat for hands-only CPR
[12:40:21] <ted-ious> Apparently ancient disco songs are not compatible with young cpr providers.
[12:43:20] <chromas> Your'e just trying to save a dude when some lawyers roll up to spank you for unlicensed public performance
[12:43:38] <ted-ious> Oh wow good point.
[12:53:43] <chromas> What if you used modern music though?
[12:54:15] <chromas> Smack My Bitch Up by the Prodigy. Breakbeats are good for the heart
[12:55:17] <chromas> or dubstep
[12:55:30] <chromas> "Why'd you stop?" "I'm waiting for the drop"

[12:57:20] <systemd> ^ 03Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk (Lyrics) ft. Bruno Mars
[12:57:50] <ted-ious> This one has a good sequence for adding the breaths if you are good enough to switch between them and chest compressions.
[12:59:27] <ted-ious> I used to be good enough to do them both at a 1 to 8 ratio but it's so demanding it will burn you out in a fraction of the time you could last just doing compressions.
[12:59:45] <ted-ious> I'm nowhere near strong enough to try that now.
[13:02:23] <ted-ious> Now I want to make a cpr playlist and have it all setup and ready to go on my phone.
[13:12:11] <chromas> if you don't have the strength, just get heavier
[13:12:39] <ted-ious> Right that works well for doing cpr.
[13:12:53] <ted-ious> For about the first 45 seconds. :)
[13:13:04] <ted-ious> Then you get tired and your patient dies.
[13:13:45] <ted-ious> Most people have to switch positions to go from compressions to breathing because they have to be centered and leaning over the sternum.
[13:14:39] <ted-ious> But if you are really good you stay at the head and keep one hand on their nose and blow every few compressions without repositioning.
[13:14:42] <chromas> Stand up and use your foot
[13:14:49] <chromas> or your metre if you're in the uk
[13:15:18] <ted-ious> It's super hard because you're pushing at a very dificult angle and you are relying on the strength of only one arm.
[13:16:57] <ted-ious> But if you can manage it you get much better outcomes because the patient has constant almost natural airflow to make the chest compressions more effective at oxygenating their blood.
[13:36:53] <ted-ious> This one has to be on my cpr playlist. https://www.youtube.com
[13:36:56] <systemd> ^ 03All Star but they don't stop coming pitch corrected
