[08:59:01] <systemd> ^ 03Food insecurity is worse than you think #farming
[09:02:55] <Ingar> most likely, it is exactly as bad as I think
[09:37:16] <fab23> So it is now time to plant a pasta & tomato tree in the backyard
[09:39:25] <janrinok> kolie, regarding ASCII v UTF8. It isn't just for comments. Many of our sources are published now in UTF8 - far more than are printed in ASCII. Accepting UTF8 has meant we have a wider choice of sources and nothing requires additional processing just to make it publishable.
[09:40:29] <janrinok> fab23, The pasta tree will require quite a long growing time :)
[09:42:17] <Ingar> fab23: tomatoes did quite well this summer
[09:42:53] <janrinok> FlightRadar24 has fallen off internet.
[09:43:28] <fab23> janrinok: may a pizza tree be better?
[09:43:36] <janrinok> Probably!
[09:44:28] <Ingar> janrinok: looks like it is server side because I got a cookie popup
[09:44:39] <Ingar> something is going on they don't want us to know
[09:46:37] <Ingar> or their sysadmin got drunk last night
[09:47:14] <fab23> There is a german song with lyrics "Oh, ich glaube fest daran, dass uns Pizza retten kann!" ("Oh, I firmly believe that pizza can save us!") https://www.youtube.com
[09:47:16] <systemd> ^ 03Antilopen Gang - Pizza
[09:48:20] <janrinok> .... or they forget to update their domain. But no site would ever do that, would they?
[09:49:25] <janrinok> However, being of suspicious mind, your first suggestion might not be too far from the mark
[09:52:03] <fab23> janrinok: domain looks fine, and at least the HTML is loaded on https://www.flightradar24.com (on Firefox you can look at the html source with Ctrl-u (or cmd-u on macOS)
[09:52:04] <systemd> ^ 03Live Flight Tracker - Real-Time Flight Tracker Map
[09:52:29] <fab23> it looks more like that some of their probably remotely loaded javascript fails.
[09:54:42] <fab23> looking with Developer Console in Firefix, I do see this error:
[09:54:43] <janrinok> I am only getting a blank screen but the URL is display as usual. If I use Ctrl-U it shows the first free lines of a response but then stops. The data from FR24 is incomplete and the page never appears.
[09:55:30] <fab23> Uncaught TypeError: can't access property "prototype", O is undefined
[09:55:37] <fab23> https://www.flightradar24.com
[09:55:37] <systemd> ^ 03404 Not Found
[09:56:20] <fab23> janrinok: yes, I also get only a blank page
[09:56:34] <Ingar> virgin white
[09:57:14] <janrinok> Earlier on I couldn't even get the URL to resolve. It resolves now but the site is still not working correctly. I suspect they are working away trying to recover it.
[09:57:22] <fab23> janrinok: but I get this HTML: https://scratchy.ponz.ch
[09:57:28] <systemd> ^ 03PONZ IRC: HTML source flightrader
[09:58:00] <janrinok> Yep, I can get that but, as I say, it is incomplete.
[09:59:10] <janrinok> If you inspect some of the links on that page they DO resolve and provide what they say.
[09:59:11] <fab23> janrinok: if they did migrate DNS or their primary host to different IP addresses, then it may take a while because the TTL was to high before the migration.
[09:59:46] <fab23> janrinok: but at least the .js in the error is not available, which is shown as error in the dev console
[10:01:21] <fab23> oh, the .js is available, systemd did probably catch the 404 because the :42 at the end, which is the line number where the error happen
[10:01:45] <janrinok> Of course, if someone didn't want FR24 to show something, they might not ask FR24 before taking some action....
[10:02:15] <fab23> https://planefinder.net still works
[10:02:17] <systemd> ^ 03Just a moment...
[10:02:33] <janrinok> ... but that would be a very paranoid interpretation
[10:03:29] <Ingar> or it just all runs on AWS
[10:09:11] <janrinok> Are they still having recovery problems?
[10:10:29] <fab23> not that I know of
[10:25:10] <Ingar> in the meanwhile Ingar removes some windows partitions from a backup PC
[10:26:12] -!- Runaway1956 [Runaway1956!~OldGuy@the.abyss.stares.back] has joined #soylent
[11:03:28] <Ingar> Success!
[13:23:12] <janrinok> Still no FR24...
[13:23:33] <janrinok> Yeah - it's back!!!
[13:23:48] <fab23> ✈️
[13:26:57] <janrinok> No aircraft shown on my display though...
[13:29:37] <janrinok> It has also lost some of my data - I have 3 feeds
[13:31:05] <fab23> then it may still be somehow in recovery mode, maybe they had a bigger issue with some database backend or such
[13:33:05] <fab23> janrinok: I just opened it in an private browser windows and see ugly things like 3 planes flying in bulk here https://www.flightradar24.com
[13:33:05] <systemd> ^ 03Live Flight Tracker - Real-Time Flight Tracker Map
[13:36:51] <janrinok> This is quite bizarre - I have aircraft on one display but not on the computer next to it. In the past they all worked.
[13:37:36] <fab23> try a forced page reload
[13:37:47] <janrinok> I have done that - several times !
[13:38:18] <fab23> did you try in a private window on that computer?
[13:38:44] <fab23> or maybe restart the browser, as e.g. Firefox is also caching dns resolves
[13:39:59] <janrinok> Access denied on private window - not unreasonable. I'm just doing a compj
[13:40:09] <janrinok> complete update and reboot.
[13:56:18] <janrinok> The problem now is with librewolf. Something has changed in the recovery and it isn't talking to librewolf, but firefox is OK.
[14:11:39] <Ingar> seems to work fine
[14:11:50] <Ingar> the airplane outside matches the one on the map
[14:23:05] <janrinok> You must have a pretty long tape measure :)
[14:23:44] <janrinok> Are you getting a good display on librewolf?
