[03:53:55] <c0lo> here's a possible answer https://www.youtube.com

[05:40:28] <systemd> ^ 03Pushing Dial-up Modems Further Than We EVER Thought Possible
[05:56:07] <halibut> Whoa. That's a different side than I knew about.
[05:56:28] <halibut> Weird aside: At one point, I was watching a video of a guy watching and reacting to a video in which another video was played.
[05:57:05] <chromas> Josh strife Hayes?
[05:57:20] <halibut> Also ... I was really, really hoping there was a connection between the two videos linked above: Evangelical Christianity REQUIRES Violence ... Pushing Dial-up Modems Further Than We EVER Thought Possible.
[05:57:38] <halibut> Putting the Fear of GOD into those poor modems.
[05:57:47] <chromas> 56 kill o' bits of violence
[05:58:10] <halibut> That's clever.
[06:24:59] <halibut> I realize they were trying for a certain kind of authenticity in that modem video ... but I was quite diappointed to see them running old versions of Windows (but not surprised by the trouble that caused).
[06:26:33] <halibut> It makes me wonder what a modern UNIX system could do, with modems attached via USB serial ports. Daisy chaining a bunch of hubs, you could probably connect ~100 USB modems. I have no idea how Linux, for example, would handle that, but I do not know of any limit offhand.
[06:27:16] <halibut> I do not know if the bonding protocol they were using is supported on Linux (I would be a little surprised if it was not), but I do know Linux supports a generic type of interface bonding that might be usable.
[07:38:54] <chromas> I've noticed on Linux, onboard serial ports don't seem to work, but USB ones do
[07:53:42] <janrinok> Regarding the Hegseth/Generals meeting, there was a report a few hours ago that Trump WOULD attend. It greatly increases the security assets required (and perhaps even puts Hegseth in the shade a little?). So the pep-talk could now be anything (including a Trump ramble...)
[07:58:47] <chromas> Someone should set up a Trump ramble generator after he moves out

[08:41:21] <Ingar> why isn't there a Trump AI yet
[08:41:35] <Ingar> how hard can it be, plenty of training material in public domain
[09:14:57] <fab23> Could already be an AI, which real human would be able to talk for 1 hour without even a small break to e.g. drink a sip of water?

[11:23:06] <c0lo> Because engineering COVID was too hard, yeah.
[18:04:59] <donaldo> Could it be that Donald Trump is, is fact, a meat-based LLM - it has been in training for 79 years, and now it is in full bloom
[18:05:38] <donaldo> Who, then, who, I ask, is giving the prompts to Donald Trump?
[18:06:30] <janrinok> Putin?
[18:07:15] <donaldo> Oh, the obsession with Putin, and with anyone not towing the Hegemon's line
[18:07:59] <donaldo> Maduro?, Kim Jong?, the guy in Iran?
[18:11:06] <donaldo> what is the prompts were given some time ago, and he is just opening them one by one like candy
[18:11:40] <donaldo> what prompts does Trump's LLM has in store?
[18:12:41] <donaldo> I mean, we could do some maneuvering if we know, and anticipate the "markets" and this and that
[18:13:33] <donaldo> right now investing in military producing companies like SAAB is a winning bet
[18:14:12] <donaldo> probably putting us all close to the apocalypse, though
