[00:00:09] <baldornictor> When you could just flag me as "magnificent".
[00:00:10] <kolie> I'm not censoring accounts.
[00:01:04] <baldornictor> ....Right.......!
[00:01:29] -!- baldornictor has quit [Quit: Client closed]
[00:01:42] <kolie> .....yes it is......!!
[00:02:48] <janrinok> oh, he's gone. What a pity....
[00:03:17] <kolie> its funner when he actually answers stuff.
[00:03:33] * janrinok thinks he has probably gone to consider his magnificence. Shouldn't take too long.
[00:03:34] <kolie> the "im not ari you are censoring accounts" bit is boring.
[00:03:53] <janrinok> yep, standard unfortunately
[00:04:37] <kolie> yea its not like a gentleman to engage an unarmed man in a battle of wits, but I can't resist at times.
[00:05:02] <janrinok> we shouldn't, but the occasional bit of light relief is important.
[00:05:30] <janrinok> That is a nice bit of coding - they flags look much neater now.
[00:05:48] <kolie> have you seen how it shows up in the user commetns list
[00:06:11] <janrinok> Do you mean the latest 50 comments?
[00:06:12] <kolie> users.pl when showing comment history
[00:06:19] <kolie> that's updated too
[00:06:26] <kolie> The sort is stable, and I added uid to the filtering.
[00:07:08] <kolie> I linked elsewhere, but if you see it, flagged comments show with strike-thru
[00:39:36] <Bytram> kolie: janrinok: Looks like you had some fun with baldornictor :^) I appreciate the laughs!
[00:40:22] <janrinok> so did we!
[00:45:47] <Bytram> Hee Hee! Good for you!
[00:47:31] <Bytram> janrinok: I'm surprised you're still awake!?
[00:48:01] <janrinok> I have several short sleeps during the night - it is my standard sleep pattern
[00:54:31] <Bytram> ahh, got it. FWIW, my sleep schedule has been off. A couple nights ago, I woke at 0300 and never got back to sleep. Eventually I get tired enough that I go to sleep!
[00:57:23] <janrinok> I have 'tactical kips' - each of several hours throughout the 24 hour period. In total it is somewhere around 7 hours. I adopted them (again) when I was looking after S. I had to care for her every few hours too.
[00:59:37] <janrinok> afk for a few hours
[01:02:56] <Bytram> thanks for the info; makes sense... sleep well my friend!

[06:40:13] <newtonsapple> He is coming for you, janrinok! Sleep well, if only fitfully.

[17:25:41] <Ingar> janrinok: I would file a complaint for stalking
[17:52:55] <janrinok> He doesn't even know where I am. He has proven that by making ridiculous claims over the last few months (this is despite me telling him roughly where I am several years ago.)
[17:55:59] <fab23> I see janrinok, he is just here in IRC :)
[17:59:28] <janrinok> Shhhh!
[18:00:49] <janrinok> And he needs to recall my past if he thinks that I am going to be intimidated by threats.
[18:03:06] <kolie> typical toothless anonymous feck internet toughboi
[18:03:33] <janrinok> yep
[18:04:12] <kolie> even his tropes are cliche
[18:06:19] <janrinok> Every village used to have an idiot , we've still got ours
[18:21:05] <Ingar> Cacafonix
[18:21:24] <Ingar> darn, Cacofonix
[18:22:48] <Ingar> Nobody reads Asterix comics?
[18:23:16] <kolie> The issue with repeated names at the top of users page where their comments are shown has been resolved.
[18:23:59] <kolie> There was a loop with an unclosed block which perl POD templates happily are fine with with is random and spaghetti AF
[18:27:28] <fab23> Ingar: hm, I guess it depends on the language you are reading / viewing them, characters may have different names.
[18:31:31] <fab23> Ingar: the English Cacofonix is the German Troubadix
[18:32:03] <fab23> Ingar: or Obelix's dog is called Idefix in German
[18:32:41] <Ingar> fab23: I actually know him as Assurancetourix
[18:33:27] <Ingar> fab23: in essence I'm used to the original French names
[18:33:41] <Ingar> they didn't even bother to translate them into Dutch :D
[18:33:43] <fab23> I only know the German names, and I have only seen the comic movies and RL movies and as the original language always is French, I did choose German :)
[18:35:31] <Ingar> fab23: these days I can watch them in original french, but as a kid I needed subtitles
[18:35:46] <fab23> Ingar: in your neighborhood? https://de.wikipedia.org
[18:35:48] <Ingar> (not much dubbing going on, the dutch language is too small)
[18:36:29] <Ingar> fab23: not exactly "my neighbourhood" but Brussels isn't far
[18:36:38] <fab23> I can understand, in DACH we are used to have very good even lipsync translations on most TV series and movies.
[18:37:39] <Ingar> fab23: I once went to the movies with a woman from the NEtherlands, she was laughing her ass off on our french+dutch subtitles
[18:38:12] <Ingar> so yeah, we grew up with subtitles
[18:38:32] <Ingar> they did help a lot with learning english though
[18:39:41] <fab23> Ingar: good cinemas here have movies also in original (mostly English) and then with German + French subtitles, I am used to them as well, grow up with that. :)
[18:40:35] <Ingar> I think a good movie needs to be watched in its original language
[18:40:43] <Ingar> (with subs ofc ;)
[18:41:24] <fab23> that is true, some fun is missing, but may also help to know some US culture, like e.g. to know what "We have to call nine one one" means. :)
[18:42:11] <Ingar> yeah, I remember as a kid, things like Thanksgiving or Haloween were quite confusing
[18:43:10] <fab23> and now kids grow up with that even here in the old world
[18:45:02] <fab23> I really liked how they showed Inglourious Basterds here in cinemas and on TV, with English, German and French audio and with either English or German subtiles for French, was a pleasure to watch.
[18:47:12] <fab23> I mean with the mix of English, German an French audio depending on the character / dialog.

[19:50:08] sam is now known as totallynotari
[19:50:34] <totallynotari> I am still afraid, but now I am a Notary.
[19:50:55] <fab23> it was never safe in IRC, this is the wild west of the Internet

[20:31:16] <Ingar> in the Wild WEst, they knew what to do with village idiots
