[09:49:19] <chromas> If the jews were made to wipe with one-ply, the Germans would have been ended a lot sooner
[09:54:06] <janrinok> Morning chromas - at least for me!
[09:58:17] <chromas> morning here too, barely
[09:59:02] <janrinok> another dull, grey and damp day here. But I have done all my prep for Christmas so I can now relax and enjoy it.
[10:04:11] <chromas> Dull, gray and damp here too, plus a bit o' wind
[10:05:03] <chromas> Some people decided I needed to go visit family so they made sure I went for xmas. Everyone went and grew up and got old while I wasn't looking
[10:06:04] <janrinok> that sounds like you are back home now? Or are you staying over Christmas with somebody else?
[10:07:35] <chromas> staying with family. played some factorio with the nephews who are taller than me, while the girls are still short
[10:08:31] <chromas> of course the thing to do is go visit someone then get on the computer to play online games in the same room :D
[10:08:47] <janrinok> I had noticed that you had been less active on here. I just assumed that everyone was busy
[10:09:11] <chromas> I should have swapped out my router before leaving but oh well
[10:09:40] <chromas> Seems the router has kernel panics and reboots so that's why I drop out now
[10:10:01] * chromas blames Intel
[10:16:55] -!- systemd has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]

[10:18:10] <janrinok> was that what has just happened?
[10:30:46] <chromas2> probably
[10:30:57] <chromas2> I noticed it once when I heard a mysterious beep
[10:31:22] <chromas2> turned out to be a POST beep, and found kernel nonsense in the logs
[10:32:43] <chromas2> it's one of those intel nuc boxes that you can find under 5 different nonsense chinesium brands, but I'm pretty sure both the ssd and ram are big name brand
[10:32:58] <chromas2> still, I should teste it when I get back
[10:34:32] <chromas2> as far as I can tell, the actual fiber connection itself has been perfectly stable so far
[10:37:44] -!- systemd [systemd!~systemd@pid1] has joined #soylent
[10:41:06] <chromas2> the log claims it's a panic from doing a page fault in kernel space. internets suggest either a buggy driver or bad ram. I think someone here also mentioned checking the rams
[10:43:10] <chromas2> now I tried playing on my steam deck and it's rebooting too
[10:43:21] <chromas2> I think it's a bug in a beta build
[10:43:27] <chromas2> everything's coming up Milhouse
[10:45:37] <chromas2> speaking of which, his voice actress just retired
[10:45:54] <janrinok> Milhouse?
[10:46:40] <janrinok> Ah, the Simpsons
[10:50:20] <janrinok> And now I have just watched a couple of Simpsons vids...
[10:52:32] <chromas2> things pretty much never go his way but he keeps what you brits would call en erect upper lip
[10:53:42] <janrinok> :D
[10:54:43] <janrinok> The bots are not finding much in the way of submissions
[10:54:56] <chromas2> no news is no news
[11:04:29] <chromas2> yep, looks like the news feeds are a bit of a farting contest right now
[11:08:37] <chromas2> "Professor Jau Tang and his team at Wuhan University have developed a prototype jet engine powered by microwave air plasmas, offering thrust without fossil fuels."
[11:08:49] <chromas2> Are they relying on the coviolis force?
[11:11:40] <chromas2> "compressed air flows into a quartz tube fitted with a microwave ionization chamber. Microwaves [...] excite the air molecules, stripping electrons from the atoms and creating a plasma state. The resulting plasma reaches temperatures exceeding several thousand degrees Celsius.[...] The high-temperature plasma rapidly expands as it exits the ionization chamber. This expansion produces a jet thrust capable of lifting a 1-kilogram steel
[11:11:40] <chromas2> ball, demonstrating thrust comparable to conventional jet engines."
[11:35:16] <janrinok> how much power do they need to generate the microwaves?
[11:36:21] <janrinok> How do they generate the power without using fossil fuels?
[11:37:25] <janrinok> Have you got a link for that story please?
[11:38:28] <janrinok> Found a link
