[00:08:35] <Bytram> ugh
[00:08:58] <Bytram> was about to head to bed early, but noticed the story queue has run dry.
[01:00:11] <chromas> https://www.mirror.co.uk
[01:00:11] <upstart> ^ 03Access Denied
[01:00:24] <chromas> ^ 'I'm going to change your nappy, is that OK?': Expert claims parents should ask babies for permission before changing diaper
[01:07:44] <Sulla> Children are property until 18
[01:08:38] <chromas> It's comments like yours that normalize rape culture! OMG
[01:09:32] <chromas> Flame in the Wood fwee on hb
[01:10:09] <chromas> s/W/Fl/
[01:10:11] <exec> <chromas> Flame in the Flood fwee on hb
[01:14:22] <Sulla> How do you ask a kid for permission?
[01:14:33] <Sulla> Pooping their diaper is implied concent
[01:16:09] <Sulla> Also not changing diaper would be abuse right?
[01:16:10] <chromas> You can't just assume that. What if the baby identifies as transpoopy? Diaper state is a spectrum!
[01:16:23] <Sulla> Fug
[01:16:53] <chromas> Everything is abuse. Off to prison for you, Mr Patriarchy!
[01:17:06] <cmn32480> diaper state is absolutely a spectrum
[01:17:15] <cmn32480> goes from completely liquid...
[01:17:30] <cmn32480> to completely solid.... and every stage adn color in between
[01:28:23] <Bender> [SoylentNews] - Canonical Releases New Kernel Live Patch for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS & Ubuntu 14.04 LTS - http://sylnt.us - improved-security-plus-continued-impressive-uptime
[01:38:20] <Sulla> True fact cmn32480
[01:38:43] <Sulla> Just had an explosion in the month old while I was making dinner
[01:38:56] <Sulla> So I asked mom to take him because "dinners burnin"
[01:39:03] <Sulla> She didnt notice until it was too late
[01:39:03] <cmn32480> good plan
[01:39:18] <cmn32480> out the back in explosive fashion?
[01:39:28] <Sulla> Out the sides under the legs
[01:39:52] <Sulla> Normally I dont mind changing as it makes all the women in the family treat the father in law like shit for always refusing
[01:39:59] <Sulla> But im not gonna be dumb about it
[01:40:21] <cmn32480> lol
[01:40:24] <cmn32480> I odn't miss those days
[01:40:57] <Sulla> This time it is just one, last time was twins
[01:41:04] <Sulla> So its getting less bad every day
[01:41:09] <cmn32480> nice
[01:41:24] <cmn32480> we didn't have twin
[01:41:27] <cmn32480> s
[01:41:47] <Sulla> How many you ahve in total?
[01:41:59] <cmn32480> we had 3 spaced 20 months apart each. (40 mothns between oldest and youngest)
[01:42:34] <Sulla> That can be rough too, although it sounds like your wife recovered quickly
[01:43:10] <cmn32480> yes
[01:43:15] <cmn32480> she is excellent
[01:43:48] <cmn32480> that age is great... tehy stay where you put them...
[01:43:54] <cmn32480> eat sleep and poop
[01:43:56] <Sulla> Yeah
[01:44:10] <Sulla> Twins are three and potty trained and into everything
[01:44:12] <Sulla> But whatever
[01:44:22] <cmn32480> potty trained is the key phrase
[01:44:30] <cmn32480> let them get into everythgin else
[01:44:35] <cmn32480> digging in the yeard
[01:44:40] <cmn32480> playing wiht the dog
[01:44:55] <cmn32480> let them learn what the world is about
[01:45:10] <Sulla> Thats the plan. We got a puppy the day before the newest was born
[01:45:13] <Sulla> Maximum chaos
[01:45:16] <cmn32480> i used to love watching as my kids discovered something new
[01:45:47] <cmn32480> we waited until the youngest was 6 tyo get a puppy
[01:46:05] <cmn32480> and the puppy is bigger than the kids 6 months late
[01:46:06] <cmn32480> r
[01:46:30] <Sulla> Hah. I have to keep getting better locks because one boy is good at opening them
[01:46:32] <Sulla> Which is fun
[01:46:40] <cmn32480> ha...
[01:46:44] <cmn32480> I have one of those
[01:47:13] <cmn32480> at one point we gave up becasue my daughter seemed to be able to get past every single child protection gadget on the market
[01:48:38] <Sulla> Haha
[01:48:49] <cmn32480> Harriet Houdini
[01:48:54] <Sulla> I am lucky that my kids dont care about the chemicals in the laundry room
[01:48:59] <Sulla> Or they would probably be dead
[01:49:09] <cmn32480> mine didn't either
[01:49:20] <Sulla> Just read about the "free range" parents on the east coast
[01:49:30] <cmn32480> but we put all that way out of reach when they were really little
[01:49:36] <Sulla> Yeah
[01:50:04] <cmn32480> all parents used ot be free range
[01:50:09] <cmn32480> "be home by dark"
[01:50:19] <cmn32480> now people get arrested for it
[01:50:25] <Sulla> Yeah, thats how I was. Fortunately I live across from a park
[01:50:33] <Sulla> Its insane parents these days
[01:51:01] <Sulla> I was at the park and heard some mom telling a two year old about not "projecting her own insecurities" onto another kid when the were playing with a ball
[01:51:17] <cmn32480> seriously?
[01:51:24] <cmn32480> wow...
[01:51:32] <Sulla> 100% a thing that happened
[01:51:32] <cmn32480> people need some serious help
[01:51:37] <Sulla> I havent gone to the parkl since
[01:51:45] <Sulla> Dont know how to cope with other parents
[01:51:57] <Sulla> But I also live in eugene, or.
[01:52:03] <cmn32480> shovel between the eyes is probably not the right answer
[01:52:28] <Sulla> I figure ill buy some acreage outside of town so kids can do whatever
[01:52:37] <cmn32480> there you go
[01:53:47] <Sulla> I bet if I wrote a editorial about that diaper thing I could get approved in the local paper
[01:54:00] <Sulla> Could be funny
[01:54:20] <cmn32480> likely
[01:54:33] <cmn32480> but in Eugene,... they better be cloth diapers
[01:55:02] <Sulla> I considered it but then decided I didnt want dirty cloth diapers sitting around
[01:55:15] <cmn32480> heretic
[01:55:27] <cmn32480> don't tell people.. you might get shunned!

[22:12:58] <TheMightyBuzzard> Black6host, heya
[22:13:14] <Black6host> Hi there, TMB
[22:13:40] <TheMightyBuzzard> been out all day. i miss anything good?
[22:14:18] -!- bacterium has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
[22:14:27] <Black6host> I'm not sure, I've been sleeping a lot today, a bit sick, and then parental responsibilities took over :)
[22:15:26] <TheMightyBuzzard> thankfully those are things that happen to other people for me
[22:16:05] <Black6host> lol, it's by choice for me, except for being under the weather
[22:16:50] <Black6host> i chose late in life to have another child. it was a choice and one that I do not regret. However, it is not a choice most would make, of that I'm sure
[22:17:45] <TheMightyBuzzard> i don't mind kids. i just like being able to make them go away. it's a little more difficult when you own them.
[22:18:47] <Black6host> indeed. Right now he's off with momma so I have some time to myself. His relationship with her is something I foster, for his benefit, and mine :)
[22:19:44] <TheMightyBuzzard> just so long as he knows how to fish
[22:21:53] <Black6host> you bet. I made sure to teach him how. And we love it. None of that mamby pamby kids shit either, for gear. Got him a spinning reel and taught him how to cast. Next up, fly fishing
[22:23:23] <TheMightyBuzzard> ain't nothin bad about a spiderman rod when you're five. once you can manage to not break good shat it's time for good shat though.
[22:24:46] <TheMightyBuzzard> speaking of, i oughta take The Roomie's kids out fishin this weekend. it's sposed to be right nice.
[22:24:47] <Black6host> Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to teach him until he was 8. Long story. So we went straight to the good stuff, he was ready and I was insistent. Someone else had done the spiderman thing with him but wouldn't let him go further
[22:25:10] <Black6host> what kind of fish you got out there?
[22:25:50] <TheMightyBuzzard> oh crappie, black bass, catfish, various sunfish mostly. the rivers you get a bit more variety.
[22:26:27] <TheMightyBuzzard> channel and blue on the cats. they're anti-flathead around these parts for some reason.
[22:27:09] <Black6host> we've got crappie, trout (small for the most part but they stock here multiple times a year), something I'd call a stunted catfish that they call a poutfish. And some gar like thing
[22:28:03] <TheMightyBuzzard> yeah, they stock trout around here too but it's an extra license to catch them so i don't bother.
[22:29:03] <Black6host> trout's included here, licence is about 45.00. Son doesn't need one as he's too young so it's not too bad for the two of us.
[22:30:52] <TheMightyBuzzard> runs about $100/year for both the license and TWRA lakes permit. they put a lot of work into their lakes though and there's one five miles from my house.
[22:32:39] <Black6host> well, we just fish the local ponds, rivers and lakes. Nothing special. My son hasn't learned the art of not catching anything yet so anything with bluegill or related does fine.
[22:33:12] <Black6host> rather I should say the joy of not catching anything, if you're fishing, it's all good
[22:33:21] <TheMightyBuzzard> nod nod. catching is more important than what you catch at that age. i only use bluegill for bait though.
[22:33:45] <TheMightyBuzzard> truth. thus the traditional bells on the catfish rods and nap.
[22:34:17] <TheMightyBuzzard> aight, gotta figure out something for dinner before everyone riots on me.
[22:34:37] <Black6host> well, nice chatting with you. have a good evening!
[22:35:41] <Black6host> we'll have to have a catfishing contest one day, I'd show you how it's done :)
