[09:29:04] <boru> What is the game?
[09:39:26] <FatPhil> I call it "Rorschach Railways"!
[09:39:40] <FatPhil> Have a browse of the images here: http://fakeisthenewreal.org
[09:39:41] <upstart> ^ 03Subway systems at the same scale / Fake is the new real
[09:39:56] <FatPhil> And now try to find "woooooops, I tripped".
[09:50:39] <boru> I don't get it.
[09:51:19] <boru> Shenzhen looks like a rider fallen off a horse.
[09:52:04] <boru> Hamburg also looks like someone has fallen onto their back.
[09:53:04] <boru> Wuhan looks like someone falling backwards like they slipped.
[09:53:36] <boru> Brussels looks like someone tripping.
[09:53:47] <boru> As does Tashkent.
[09:54:07] <boru> And Marseille
[09:54:38] <boru> That's about it, so far as I'm concerned. Many of them have a vaguely Eldritch 'motion' to them.
[11:03:32] <AndyTheAbsurd> Moscow and Paris look like squished bugs to me.

[12:12:21] <FatPhil> none of those were the city I was thinking of!
[12:13:01] <boru> Frame of reference, I suppose.
[12:13:13] <FatPhil> hence the Rorschach aspect
[12:15:26] <boru> Right.
[12:16:09] <FatPhil> I suggest that if nobody gets it in 5 guesses, then the proposer (me) is clearly mentally ill, and I lose a point.
[12:16:42] <FatPhil> I was thinking of Bucharest
[12:17:04] <FatPhil> Your turn to propose a description for us to guess!
[12:21:09] <boru> A man being attacked by a large winged creature.
[12:21:56] <FatPhil> Hong Kong?
[12:22:21] <boru> Níl.
[12:32:13] <AndyTheAbsurd> Frankfurt?
[12:34:18] <AndyTheAbsurd> I think Bengaluru has the worst subway "system" pictured there. A lot of the others down that far on the page are pretty sad, too, though.
[12:40:32] <boru> Yeah, it was Frankfurt.

[15:23:03] <FatPhil> AndyTheAbsurd: well done! your turn!
[15:35:08] <AndyTheAbsurd> A hungry Cthulhu wearing a fedora.
[15:35:37] <AndyTheAbsurd> You folks try to figure that one out, I'm going to go get lunch.
[15:48:56] <FatPhil> Dubai?
[15:52:55] <AndyTheAbsurd> Nope.
[16:05:54] <FatPhil> Stockholm?
[16:08:09] <AndyTheAbsurd> no
[16:11:49] <AndyTheAbsurd> Actually Stockholm DOES fits the description pretty well.

[16:43:58] * exec theoretically allocates a pair of logical fallacies for nick
[16:52:52] <FatPhil> Seoul?
[17:00:30] <AndyTheAbsurd> I think you've guessed enough. It was Prague that I was looking at when I came up with that description, but I decided I'd have accepted Nagoya as well when I saw that one.
[17:03:00] <FatPhil> That would have been my final guess, though it's a fez more than a fedora!
[17:03:30] <FatPhil> Nagoya, that is
[18:07:09] <idetuxs> Any advice on setting up a WebDav server? that is, a server to just access a bunch of files and folders via webdav
[18:09:56] <mechanicjay> idetuxs: check out Apache's mod_dav -- it's probably not the greatest, but it's functional enough if you don't need to get fancy.
[18:10:32] <idetuxs> before realizing webdav exists, I installed nextcloud, but it's got syncing problems and other stuff. So I think just a folder structure with webdav access is what I need. And recalling the SN story, I'll give it a try with a linode server
[18:10:55] <idetuxs> thanks mechanicjay
[18:13:05] <mechanicjay> For lots more pretty stuff, OwnCloud is an interesting way to go
[18:13:13] <mechanicjay> ....or did that fork to NextCloud now?
[18:15:24] <idetuxs> yes, NextCloud is a fork
[18:17:24] <idetuxs> for what I've read in the tubes, most of the OwnCloud devs moved on to NextCloud. Kind of a LibreOffice vs OpenOffice situation

[23:30:58] <chromas> The phone really, really wants me to know my internet's been compromised and I should call some scammers to fix it. Seems like they'd call some other numbers throughout the day
