[14:24:14] <Bytram> Further, other countries perspective on the USA has taken a nosedive lately due to the actions of the current POTUS who has unilaterally broken trade agreements and treaties. Why believe any promises made now when they, too, could be just as susceptible to revocation without notice.
[14:22:33] <Bytram> As a percent of GDP, historically the national debt has remained very roughly stable, but when the economy goes way off the rails, suddenly GDP is not what is used to be, and that makes debt/GDP much larger.
[14:20:54] <Bytram> To my eye, those are pretty big "if"s. People self-quarantining, not going out to restaurants, not flying, not going to conventions, not going to resorts (e.g. Disney [world|land|etc., Las Vegas casinos/resorts, and many others), skipping cruise ships, sports canceled, etc. etc. that is a huge drag on the financial stability of companies and many will not weather the downturn: bankruptcies galore.
[14:17:11] <Bytram> "As long as U.S. fiscal institutions are strong and effective, and the long-run productive capacity of the nation's economy is secure, there is no economic reason to worry the government can't afford a large stimulus package. "
[14:16:51] <Bytram> Seems a bit too hand-wavy to me. "Anything with a false premise necessarily has a true concusion."

[03:29:36] <Fnord666> Ditto here.
[03:29:08] <Bytram> There is an organization where I would regularly attend meetings, but those have been drastically curtailed, so there is that.
[03:28:36] * Fnord666 groans
[03:28:11] <Bytram> two thirds of a pun is... P U !!
[03:27:50] <Fnord666> doh
[03:27:47] * Bytram burps and farts
[03:27:40] <exec> <Fnord666> Sounds like you've got got ends covered

[03:27:30] <Fnord666> Sounds like you've got goth ends covered
[03:27:13] <Bytram> prolly have a month's worth of TP, too, just by chance.
[03:26:42] <Bytram> I count myself fortunate that I can do that. So many are out of work, or have come down sick, or... yeah, no complaints, here.
[03:26:16] <Fnord666> Sounds like you're set pantry wise
[03:25:53] <Bytram> could easily stay indoors for a month, if I *had* to.

[03:25:30] <Bytram> Also have 15 lbs of potatoes, about 10 lbs of pasta, plenty of beans (chili and baked) and lots of other edibles.
[03:25:04] <Fnord666> yep
[03:24:46] <Bytram> I think that should last me for a while!
[03:24:29] <Bytram> 12.5 oz each.
[03:24:13] <Bytram> Was out shopping a couple weeks ago at a local discount place; saw they had a special on canned white chicken. Picked up a few cans, tried 'em out. Plenty good enough. Stopped by a couple days later and picked up 24 cans. =)
[03:23:57] <Fnord666> I'm fortunate that my work can be done from home as well
[03:23:42] <Fnord666> and good for you re the public
[03:22:56] <Fnord666> That sounds yummy
[03:22:40] <Bytram> made up a 4 gallon stew couple days ago; reserved the "broth", added the hamn bone and two pounds of split peas and ended up with a gallon of home-made split-pea soup. Yum!
[03:21:41] <Fnord666> ditto
[03:21:34] <Bytram> I'm closeish to the susceptible category due to age and health stuff.
[03:21:18] <Fnord666> I hear ya
[03:21:08] <Bytram> And I'm kinda glad I don't have to deal with the public at this time.
[03:20:58] <Fnord666> ditto the house
[03:20:48] <Bytram> I've got plenty to catch up on around my apartment.
[03:20:38] <Fnord666> :)
[03:20:32] <Bytram> I don't need a lot of outside stimulation, 15+ years in retail to the contrary!
[03:20:07] <Fnord666> That's good
[03:19:55] <Bytram> well enough, thanks.

[03:17:31] <Fnord666> strictly a reference point, not the contents we would publish mind you
[03:17:25] <Bytram> that said, it would be nice, if *we* getting an entry on archive.org at the time the story goeslive.
[03:16:52] <Bytram> interesting, but that would only CYA, when it is in our best interest to get things published that are as close as possible to what is out there at the time of publication....
[03:15:51] <Fnord666> At one point I was chatting with chromas about having his bot create an entry on archive.org during the submission process
[03:15:14] <Bytram> Correction, March 18 4:40 p.m. PT: An earlier version of this piece suggested you could not eat the Wonderchicken. It is, at least in theory, possible the Wonderchicken would have been edible.
[03:15:05] <Bytram> Ha! I sit corrected!
