[18:45:35] -!- janrinok has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[15:50:26] <Bytram> have a great day everyone!
[15:50:18] <Bytram> alrighty then, gtg
[15:25:36] <Bytram> afk
[15:25:32] <Bytram> back in about 10-15 minutes... gotta get ready to head out the door. Thanks for the input!!! (If you should need to head off before I get back, do give my best to S and your PiL, too!)
[15:14:00] <Bytram> BT, I assume for the kbd/mouse?
[15:13:48] <Bytram> what kind of display?
[15:13:27] <janrinok> I have a wireless kbd/mouse and a small 11" display which, when linked to a raspi, makes a simple setup to carry around on my travels without worrying about breaking it.
[15:12:22] <Bender> karma - js: -1
[15:12:22] <Bytram> js--
[15:11:54] <janrinok> browsing the web is fine unless you are looking at multiple tabs of very js heavy material.
[15:11:16] <Bytram> nod nod
[15:10:50] <janrinok> * when they _don't_ work as well as a lappy or a desktop
[15:10:10] <janrinok> I feed two of my raspis using PoE and another that is powered by Li batteries
[15:09:47] <Bytram> It has 6GB of RAM, but I rarely use more than half of that with Win 7 Pro
[15:09:20] <Bytram> My main machine ATM is a core 2 duo that tops out at about 2.5Ghz
[15:08:58] <janrinok> your ideas seem perfectly feasible to me.
[15:08:14] <janrinok> they are limited only by your imagination but, of course, they can seem underpowered for some tasks. I've read of some people being disappointed when they work as well as, say, a lappy or desktop
[15:07:52] <Bytram> Mainly to have a local *nix distribution that I can play with, though PiHole has an attraction for me... with one caveat: I'd be using it "backwards" - receive on WiFi and output on wired ethernet. Don't know if that is possible/practical.
[15:06:38] <Bytram> kewel!
[15:06:23] <janrinok> I've then got a couple more that I am using for temporary projects - If the projects work then I might dedicate the raspi to that job.
[15:05:28] <janrinok> I've got 3 which are receiving ADSB transmissions from aircraft which I then display on a radar-like display written using PyQt5. A couple more act as servers, firewalls, and honeypots.
[15:03:26] <janrinok> I've got multiple raspis, what do you intend doing with it?
[14:41:47] <Bytram> Thoughts?
[14:41:36] * Bytram is thinking about getting one of these: https://www.amazon.com
[14:39:51] <Bytram> reminds me of one day when I was in college... had 3 different software projects I was working on: each on a different OS, on a different hardware platform, programming in a different language, using different terminals (each with their own, different keyboard layout)
[14:38:10] <janrinok> sort of, I'm doing different things on each so it is getting a bit confusing for my simple brain
[14:35:13] <Sulla> Sounds fun
[14:31:33] <janrinok> sry, I'm bouncing around like a madman between 3 computers
[14:17:56] <Sulla> Good mirning

[02:09:42] <Bytram> yup
[02:09:29] <mrpg> Are you eating all right?
[02:08:45] * Bytram hopes it is just seasonal allergies that have him slowed down. Slept about 11 hours last night (off-and-on) and then took a 2-hour nap late this afternoon... and I'm still tired.
[02:07:32] * Bytram just tossed another "easy' sub into the sub queue.
[02:06:12] <Bytram> no worries; we probably couldn't get to it for a while anyway.
[01:59:33] <mrpg> I forgot. Let me check, it was weeks ago.
[01:59:03] <Bytram> it takes you to the top of the *story* rather than the beginning of the comment?

[01:58:02] <mrpg> you know, the email that is sent when somebody mods my comments.
[01:57:36] <mrpg> When a story has more than one page, the link in the email takes me to the first page, not to the second.
